Project Summary
Evidence based practice (EBP) is one critical element of professional practice expected from graduates of the DMD Program. At present EBP is not developed sufficiently, partially due to its teaching being
unstandardized. A project team will develop and test EBP resources. Surveys and written student reports on a given scenario will be used to evaluate students’ skills of EBP. Observations will be conducted to assess whether the resources help to achieve standardization, and how tutors facilitate their students’ learning of EBP. Interviews of faculty members will help to evaluate how much the EBP resources have been used across different first year modules. Once the EBP resources are developed and evaluated, students will be able to develop long-term EBP strategies to use in current and future practice. The tutors will be able to facilitate learning of EBP in a standardized manner.
