Project Summary
This project will prepare pharmacy, medicine, dietetics and nursing students to work with patients living with Type II Diabetes. Students from these professions, who play a key role in the management of Type II Diabetes, will be invited to take part in a monthly diabetes clinic. As part of this learning experience, students will:
Complete an online preparatory module that will give them a common foundation and understanding of diabetes.
Review an online case in order to explore the roles of the various professions in the management of diabetes.
Work with a standardized patient in order to refine their collaborative and communication skills.
Work with actual patients at the diabetes clinic, as a team, to develop collaborative, comprehensive care plans that addresses the various elements of care needed to manage Type II Diabetes effectively.
