Project Summary | We recognize the challenges students face with biostatistics and critical appraisal of biostatistics, and aim to revolutionize its teaching. This initiative stems from common statistics anxiety among undergraduates and the limitations of existing statistical tools. The objectives of Statistics Bakers are multifaceted: to develop comprehensive, user-friendly visual guides for statistics methodology, both as full-length and pocket-size versions, and animated videos to make learning more engaging. Additionally, the creation of a question bank with solutions, including multiple-choice questions with advanced scoring features, will facilitate practice and assessment. Evaluation of the biostatistics toolkit will ensure its effectiveness. The project also promotes a sense of community with a UBC-wide statistics "bakeoff," encouraging students to apply their knowledge. By addressing these shortcomings and embracing innovative teaching approaches, we will transform the way biostatistics is taught and learned at UBC. |
