Project Summary

In 2011, we received a TLEF grant supporting our lab in the creation of a computerized gait analysis course. An integral part of this course was defining and demonstrating the physical assessment of children with Neuromotor challenges in an evidence-based manner. We would now like to extend the course to include a co-constructed approach of all physical assessments made at BC Children's Hospital by therapists and physicians of children with Neuromotor deficits. In preparation for all therapists that manage and see children with Neuromotor challenges, we are proposing making this course available to all physical therapists in the province, as well as students training to assess and treat children. By extending this course to students in both Medicine and Physiotherapy, we will be preparing the professionals of the future with a co-constructed, evidence based, inter-professional approach to measuring the physical characteristics of children with Neuromotor challenges.
