Project Summary

The first phase of the web-based Co-op database is complete, ready to be implemented starting January 2002. The current version of the database will allow Co-op students to view and apply for co-op jobs, sign-up for interviews, update work term and address information on-line. It also allows employers to post jobs, view student resumes, cover letters and transcripts, schedule interviews and submit rankings on-line. This database will greatly improve the efficiency of the co-op programs at UBC and cut down on tremendous amount of paper work.

The next phase of this project consists of several tasks. These include improving response time, integrating report-writing using Crystal Reports, finalizing on-line interview scheduling. The second phase of this project will see the database become fully functional. An overview of the current status and future planning of the database is provided below. To complete the second phase of the project we (Science and Applied Science Co-op Programs) are requesting a TLEF grant of $60,000.00 to support the salary of the database developer.
