Year 2: Summary

Building on the social justice platform that has informed both the elementary and secondary teacher-education degree programs, the Faculty of Education (FOE) has recommended the infusion of international and intercultural perspectives across its curriculum (Education's Global Journey within Teacher Education, 2006). The Internationalization At Home (IAH) Project seeks to expand and assess its community partnerships for enhancing global citizenship, helping to ensure that UBC students "are presented with global issues, concerns, and solutions as part of their ... professional studies" (Trek 2010). Accordingly, the 2007-2008 plan for the IAH Project is (a) to broaden the platform for interaction between teacher-education students and international student-speakers from the Global Student Speakers Bureau (GSSB), and to better utilize other UBC co-curricular opportunities for socializing students as global citizens; (b) to pilot a design and assessment tool for programs to infuse knowledge-exchange sessions about global citizenship across the curriculum; and (c) to continue the development of international studentspeakers as well as appreciative audiences, on and off campus.
