Project Summary

In September 2007, the BC College of Teacher's (BCTT) new standards for competencies and conduct will come into effect. These standards interface well with the UBC TREK 2010 learning goals, as well as the Faculty of Education's learning goals, and together ensure that all academic programs meet the highest standards of excellence. With the BCCTs introduction of their new standards for teaching certification beginning in September of 2007, the Faculty of Education will embrace the opportunity to implement a new program-wide assessment system that captures the highest professional standards. The new approach is a student generated e-portfolio that analyzes selected experiences or artifacts in a final capstone project. This TLEF project is focused on helping students fulfill the requirements of the two e-portfolios. In this way, sustainability is built into the program development. Although the result of this TLEF project will undoubtedly help approximately 900 students a year in faculty of Education, other Faculties on campus may also benefit by learning from the experience gained in the Faculty of Education.
