Project Summary

Over the spring term, 2008, students, staff and faculty members are collaborating together to create UBC's Climate Action Framework, a strategy that moves UBC beyond climate-neutral. This TLEF project seeks to implement the curriculum development recommendations coming out of this collaborative community planning process. Core components of this project include:

  • providing opportunities for students to work with faculty, using problem based learning to develop and update a comprehensive greenhouse gas inventory for the university
  • facilitating climate related curriculum development in partnership with students and faculty members
  • creating a comprehensive, web-based, open source climate research opportunity data base thereby enhancing students ability to participate in applicable and practical problem based learning
  • enabling a UBC SEEDS program to further facilitate sustainability-related research opportunities for students at UBC
  • conducting cluster analysis of climate related research taking place at UBC in collaboration with the VP Research
  • preparing a discussion paper on research related UBC investment opportunities for carbon offsets
