Project Summary

A personal appreciation of and commitment to scholarly integrity and ethical behaviour is an attribute that we should I expect in all our students. It is an attribute that benefits from a broad consideration of principles within an international context rather than simply from the perspective of local compliance. An on-line interactive program, 'Global Research Ethics & Integrity Module' was developed and funded through the Universitas 21 Graduate Deans' network. It is relevant to all graduate students, whether they continue in research or academia, or leave to work in business, industry, government or other fields. The program makes connections with the student's research and supervisors. It will challenge students to reflect on the ways that personal, institutional, regulatory and cultural perspectives interact in the practice of ethical behaviour. We require TLEF funding for one year to tailor the program to the UBC and Canadian educational environment and to pilot its introduction.
