Project Summary

A survey of 4th-year HKIN undergraduate students in 2007, 2008 and 2009 indicated a lack of confidence in prescribing exercises for prevention of sports injuries. Students reported wanting to devote more time to enhancing exercise prescription skills. Prescribing exercise is a core competency goal in several courses at UBC (including MPT); the capstone course in HKIN is HKIN 461 and 471 (three credits for each semester). At present, there is no single site where undergraduate students can find video instruction customized to UBC’s curriculum.

This TLEF application aims to provide innovative, web-based material to enhance students’ experience prescribing exercises which prevent sports injuries. Specifically, these eight teaching modules (each consisting of multi-part video clips) will provide detailed, practical, guidance for complex multi-part exercise prescription for content outlined below. The library of exercise videos will be accessible via YouTube as this meets student demand.
