Project Summary

The Undergraduate Art History Symposium is a Department-sponsored, student-led and organized event that would provide valuable experience to students involved. Approximately six undergraduate papers will be selected for oral presentation to the student body, faculty and wider community, and will take part in a following discussion. Students will take a leading role to experience firsthand what is involved in mounting a symposium including: organizing a call for papers; jurying The academic papers submitted by students; advertising; scheduling planning a major, multi-faceted event; and inviting keynote speakers. With Departmental support and guidance, students will also organize, layout and edit an accompanying publication featuring the papers presented. This will be a tremendous learning experience for those students involved, incentive for those approaching their senior year, and a valuable way for the Department to display the rigour and depth of its undergraduate program.
