Project Summary | This project is well-aligned with UBC strategic priorities focused on transformative student learning and retention. Successful learners are self-regulating: They are able to take deliberate, intentional control over their learning and lives. This project will offer supports to instructors for enhancing “self-regulated learning” (SRL) in undergraduate classrooms in the Faculty of Arts (FoA) and Faculty of Science (FoS). SRL research documents classroom practices instructors can implement to strengthen SRL. Using SRL- promoting practices, instructors enhance students’ capacity to take ownership for their learning, and to work with ideas in adaptive, transformative ways. This project will have an immediate and long-term impact on curricula and pedagogy for Arts and Science courses, in addition to connecting with initiatives in academic advising and peer academic coaching, and building capacity in pedagogical coaching through CTLT and Skylight. This project will build SRL teaching practices while contributing to a culture of transformative learning across the Faculties. |
