Project Summary

This project will create Engagement Studios as opportunities for dialogue between students and community organizations that can lead to the development and emergence of community-based experiential learning collaborations between students, faculty, and community partners. Building on lessons learned from the TLEF funded Parisian Salons, the goal of this project is to move beyond discourse to intentional and collaborative action focused on the resolution of complex community-based priorities. Each Engagement Studio will be co-developed and co-led by university and community stakeholders including students, staff, faculty, and community partners, and will centre on an area of thematic societal and community concern. Through facilitated processes, including appreciative inquiry, attendees will identify actions for resolving one or more aspects of the larger challenges identified and discussed at the Studio sessions. Collaboration with cross-disciplinary and cross-sectoral partners will be identified as key to the actions plans.
