Project Summary

The project deliverable will be an ‘app’ that will be based on the UBC Formulary that has recently been developed for students in the medical undergraduate program (MDUP) at UBC. The formulary is a list of 150 ‘must-see/know/apply’ drug classes that will form the core of pharmacology training for MDUP students. The app, which will be available free of charge on a wide array of devices, will include a checklist feature, which will allow students to check off drugs as they encounter them in the curriculum and on the wards, as well as acting as a resource and source of reflection for these encounters. The app will provide quick, easy access to key drug information, and facilitate student reflection of how pharmacology knowledge is applied to their patient. It is therefore believed that the app will facilitate the application of pharmacological principles at the bedside, reinforcing student learning.
