|Title||Law without Borders: Developing a Distance Learning Portfolio at the Faculty of Law|

This project involves two parts. The first part is to develop distance based teaching guidelines faculty members. Working with UBC’s Centre for Teaching and Learning Technologies, I would like to develop: 1) a set of pedagogical guidelines and best practices for Faculty (including Adjunct Faculty) interested in teaching through distance education. This could include some background not only on distance education theory, but also information on different ways distance education could be delivered and ways of effectively incorporating interactive technology in the delivery of distance education courses; 2) develop clear written instructions and hold a training session for instructors on how to use the distance education technology in Allard Hall.
The second part of this proposal is to apply the information from the first part to the development of three graduate level pilot courses that use distance learning pedagogy and technology. These graduate level pilot courses could form the basis of a potential non-degree graduate certificate program in the Fundamentals of Canadian Law aimed at foreign trained lawyers located abroad.
