Project Summary

We will be launching a new minor program in Creative Writing in the 2014-15 academic year. Building on our past successes exploring new modes of online learning, we will be renewing our curriculum, structuring all 300-level classes in this new program as blended, flexible courses, incorporating online and in-class learning. To support this program we will create a series of reusable online instructional modules and implement them through three pilot courses in the 2013-14 academic year (CRWR 305, CRWR 306 and CRWR 317). Incorporating flexible, self-directed learning online will allow the in-class portion of the course to focus on putting these learned techniques into practice through the structured discussion of student writing assignments, fulfilling the twin goals of developing student ability in each genre of writing studied as well as in the process of critical thinking and discussion essential to improving the practice of writing.
