Project Summary

We would like to continue the implementation of a five week summer school where Aboriginal high school students will be: taking courses at UBC; working with members of the university community; discussing issues relevant to Aboriginal cultures; exposed to career possibilities.

Aboriginal students currently attending high school will come to UBC five days a week for five weeks to take courses in math and English in the morning; three afternoons a week they will be working with a member of the university community in an area of their choice and they will be paid $100 for 7.5 hours of work a week for their work.

Thursday afternoons they will meet in a circle with Elders and various members of the Aboriginal community to discuss a variety of issues regarding Aboriginal cultures, and learn about career possibilities among other things.
