Project Summary

This project will result in the development of a capstone experience for students engaging in a sustainability pathway that includes a course based and co-curricular infrastructure, learning outcomes, and project plans that may be adapted by other departments or Faculties. The pathway, a series of linked courses and experiences, currently in development and led by the Faculty of Science in partnership with other faculties and central units will be made available to students from across the UBC campus. The capstone experience and core pathway components will be designed to require students to synthesize and apply disciplinary specific knowledge to complex sustainability challenges through partnerships with community organizations, government agencies, corporations, and NGOs. A capstone course will ensure frameworks exist to support interdisciplinary groups to work in teams on projects which require innovation at organizational and/or systems levels.
