Project Summary | This project aims to provide students of Classical Japanese with a free, practical and widely accessible (online) dictionary resource, the first of its kind and material breadth to be available in the English language. This new resource, designed in close consultation with the Arts ISIT unit, seeks to replace its outdated web-based precursor that has become largely unusable in the face of new technological advancements and growing student demand. At its core, the dictionary will combine the convenience of a fast and fluid search engine with comprehensive databases that will feature published translation material by some of the leading scholars in the field. While the immediate benefit of the resource will be directed at UBC students, after two to three years of testing, this resource will be made available to the scholarly community outside of UBC as well. |
